Mumbai rains: Indigo and SpiceJet issue advisory for travellers, IMD issues Red Alert, schools closed in…

Mumbai Rains LIVE: With the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red and orange alerts in some districts of Maharashtra, Indigo and SpiceJet airlines have released advisories for passengers. Regions like Mumbai, Pune, Thane have been affected by heavy downpour, causing flight disruptions. Both the airlines took to the social media platform X (formerly twitter) to inform about the disruptions and issue advisories.
Indigo Travel Advisory:

“There’s a heavy downpour over Mumbai at the moment, causing some temporary disruption to flight schedules. If you are travelling today, please be aware of potential delays and allow additional time for your journey, especially with traffic moving slower than usual,” Indigo wrote in their tweet.
They also added that passengers can check their flight statuses on the Indigo app or their website, and leave accordingly.

SpiceJet Travel Advisory:

SpiceJet Airlines, in their post, said “Due to bad weather (heavy rains) in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected.” Adding on they also requested the passengers to check their flight status beforehand at the Spicejet website and prepare accordingly.

Avoid visiting coastal and low-lying areas: Mumbai Police

The Mumbai Police also issued an advisory among the heavy rains, a post by them mentioned “In view of the heavy rain across Mumbai city and suburbs, citizens are requested to avoid visiting coastal and low-lying areas. Our officials and staff are alert and ready to assist Mumbaikars. Dial 100 / 112 / 103 in case of any emergency.”

IMD Issues Weather Update:

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Mumbai is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Tuesday and over the next four days. Other than that, areas like Pune would be receiving moderate rainfall within the next three to four hours. In some areas, the rainfall will be accompanied with thunder, lightning, and strong winds.
