If sources are to be believed newly nominated Member of the Rajya Sabha Harshvardhan Shringla was reportedly given offer to fight Lok Sabha election in 2024 from his home town Darjeeling. But he politely refused. Sources said he was more interested in Rajya Sabha route. Shringla retired as Secretary, Foreign Affairs in 2022 after then he was appointed as Secretary cum OSD to G20 Secretariat and finally retired from the govt job in March 2024. He is an IFS officer.

Nearly 74.39% electors in Bihar submitted Enumeration forms

With a few more days left before the last date of collection of Enumeration Forms, over 74% of the 7,89,69,844 (nearly 7.90 crore) electors in Bihar have already submitted their forms. In the second phase of SIR, BLOs are going house-to-house to assist the electors and collect their filled Enumeration Forms. Field level functionaries including 38 DEOs, EROs covering all 243 Assembly Constituencies and 963 AEROs are regularly supervising the progress of SIR. Digitisation and uploading of Enumeration Forms are progressing smoothly. As of 6.00 PM on Friday, 5,87,49,463 Enumeration Forms, which is 74.39% of the total forms, have been collected.

Even after 26 years of division, inter-state assets and liabilities issue is unresolved

It was November 9, 2000 when Uttarakhand was carved out of Uttar Pradesh but pending matters related to assets and liabilities division between the two states remains unresolved yet. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami last week chaired a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to discuss the pending matters. The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite resolution of issues where consensus had been reached in previous meetings between the two states. He ordered that for matters currently in progress, follow-up meetings with Uttar Pradesh officials should be held to ensure timely resolution. Chief Minister Dhami is likely to hold a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath soon to address and resolve remaining inter-state matters.
