Cow smuggler held after brief encounter in Palwal
The Palwal police arrested a notorious cow smuggler following a brief encounter on Tuesday at the Hodal-Nawalgarh road. The accused suffered an injury after being hit with a bullet in his leg. The police have seized illegal weapons and impounded a car used in the crime.
According to the police, a team, led by Hodal CIA in-charge Inspector Jagminder Singh, chased the accused on the Hodal-Nawalgarh road on Tuesday morning. Upon noticing the police chasing him, the accused tried to flee in his car, which was later stopped by a police team. The accused began running away and fired a few shots at the police officials standing there. The policemen had a narrow escape. In retaliation, the Inspector CIA fired two shots at the accused, causing a leg injury to the accused.
The accused was identified as Irsad (30), a resident of Kot village in Palwal district. A total of 16 cases, including those related to cow slaughter, Animal Cruelty Act, attack on police party, theft and attempt to murder, were already registered against him at several police stations in Nuh and Palwal.
“The accused’s family is involved in cow slaughter. More than 50 cases of cow slaughter and attack on police party have been registered against his father, Nasru, and brothers Azad and Taufiq. The police are committed to completely curbing cow smuggling,” said SP Singla.
