Local trader gets Rs 30L extortion call, gangster booked
In yet another case of extortion, foreign-based notorious gangster Prabh Dasuwal has demanded Rs 30 lakh from a local businessman here.
The victim, identified as Kumar Krishan, in his complaint to the police, alleged that the gangster threatened him with dire consequences in case he failed to pay up. Kumar Krishan said that Dasuwal has been demanding extortion money worth Rs 30 lakh by calling him repeatedly from virtual numbers for more than two months. A case has been registered under section 308 (4) of BNS by the local city police. Further investigation has been initiated by ASI Parduman Singh.
Meanwhile, Sarhali police have arrested an alleged operative of a gangster Gurdev Singh Jaisal Chambal, identified as Shubhdeep Singh alias Deep, a resident of Khawaspur village falling under Goindwal Sahib police station on July 13. Gurdev Jaisal originally hailed from Naushehra Pannuan village. Another operative Harpreet Singh Happy too is a member of the gang, said police.
Shubhdeep was produced in court which sent him to two days of police remand. During a preliminary probe, the police have identified his other associates.
Amritsar
