Mumbai Crime News: Missing 4-Year-Old Girl Found Dead In Colaba Sea; Stepfather Missing, Named Prime Suspect

Mumbai: In a tragic turn of events, the body of a four-year-old girl who had gone missing from Mumbai’s Antop Hill area on the night of July 14 was recovered from the Colaba sea coast on Tuesday morning. The Colaba police, after taking custody of the body, began identifying the deceased based on her physical description. The child was later confirmed to be Ameera, for whom a missing complaint had been filed by her mother at the Antop Hill police station.

Following the discovery, the Antop Hill police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and launched an investigation. However, suspicion has fallen on Ameera’s stepfather, Imran, who has since gone incommunicado.

According to police sources, on the night of July 14, Imran, also known as Immu, reportedly took the girl with him and has not been reachable since. His phone has been switched off, raising further suspicion. Ameera lived with her mother, Nazia, and stepfather Imran in the Bengali Pura area of Rajiv Nagar, Antop Hill.

Ameera was reported missing after her mother failed to locate her despite extensive searching. Early on Tuesday morning, Nazia and Imran visited Antop Hill Police Station to file a missing person’s report. It is believed that Nazia had been previously married twice and was currently in her third marriage with Imran.

While Antop Hill police were conducting search operations, the Colaba police received information about a child’s body floating near the Sassoon Dock area. The body, suspected to be that of a 4–5-year-old girl, was retrieved and sent to St. George Hospital for post-mortem.

Using the physical description provided in missing person alerts, Colaba police confirmed the deceased to be Ameera. Preliminary investigations suggest that the child may have been murdered and her body dumped into the sea, with Imran emerging as the prime suspect. The police are currently intensifying efforts to trace Imran and determine the exact circumstances of the child’s death. Further investigation is underway.
