Thane Crime: Kalyan GRP Arrests Wadala Man For Sexually Assaulting 2 Minor Boys; FIR Registered Under POCSO Act
Thane: The Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting two boys, aged between 11 and 12, in Kalyan. The accused, a resident of Wadala in Mumbai, was identified following an investigation. According to GRP officials, the boys were acquainted with the accused prior to the incident.
The case came to light when the two boys alongwith the accused were found roaming suspiciously around the platform of railway station. They were intercepted by police officers, and during questioning, boys revealed the name of the accused who had brought them there and he allegedly sexually abused them earlier.
According to the police report, the boys were rescued, and the accused was apprehended. An FIR has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
During the investigation, it was learned that the accused had brought the boys to Kalyan under the pretext of taking them for a walk and to enjoy themselves. A patrolling team on duty found the man’s behavior suspicious as he was seen roaming with the two boys. He was detained and brought to the police station, where he was arrested following further inquiries.
Pandhari Kande, Senior Police Inspector from GRP Kalyan, said, "The accused were apprehended and later handed over to the Wadala police station for further investigation. The parents of the boy have launched a search for them and later they were about to go to the Wadala police station to file a case. But before that, our team apprehended the accused and rescued the boys, later handing them over to their family members," added Kande.
