Uttar Pradesh News: Agra Municipal Corporation Launches Door-To-Door House Tax Drive, Plans Re-Survey Of Commercial Properties

Agra: Agra Municipal Corporation has intensified its house tax collection efforts, deploying a special 60-member team to distribute notices door to door. This team, with 15 personnel assigned to each of the Hariparvat, Chhatta, Tajganj, and Lohamandi zones, will urge taxpayers to submit their dues promptly.

According to Additional Municipal Commissioner Satyendra Kumar Tiwari, this initiative aims to reach approximately 3 lakh active house taxpayers across the city, ensuring timely bill delivery and improving collection rates. Comprehensive guidelines have been issued to both revenue officials and the distribution teams.

To assist taxpayers, help desks will be established in each zone, allowing residents who haven't received their bills or face difficulties in payment to contact the relevant zonal officer directly.

In a bid to augment its revenue, the Municipal Corporation will also conduct a re-survey of commercial properties along major roads. This comes after observations that many properties are used for commercial activities but are taxed as residential, or have understated commercial areas. Properties on key thoroughfares like MG Road, Fatehabad Road, MG Road 2, and prominent Yamunapar roads will undergo inspection and measurement.

Ankit Khandelwal, Municipal Commissioner, emphasized that house tax is a vital revenue source for funding urban development and essential services, appealing to citizens to contribute to the city's progress by paying their taxes on time.
