Mumbai Cricket Association Launches First-Ever Women’s Umpires' Exam In Maharashtra; Registration Open Till July 18

In a significant step towards promoting gender inclusivity in cricket officiating, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced a dedicated Umpires' Examination for Women, scheduled to be held in August-September 2025. 

"The initiative is aimed at increasing the number of qualified women umpires in Maharashtra and strengthening the umpiring ecosystem with a more inclusive and diverse approach" said the joint secretary of Raigad Cricket Club Association Jayant Naik.

As part of the initiative, free preparatory classes both online and offline will be organized in August for all registered women candidates. These classes will help aspirants prepare for the examination which will comprise Theory, Practical, Viva, and Video Analysis components.

MCA officials stated that depending on the number of applications received, the association may conduct a screening exam prior to the main examination.

Cricketing bodies and enthusiasts are urged to widely circulate the announcement to encourage maximum participation from aspiring women umpires across the state.

The detailed schedule for the examination will be released in due course.
