Sansarpur drug unit booked for producing copyright medicine
In a major crackdown on counterfeit drug manufacturing and copyright infringement, the district police of Dehra has registered an FIR against M/s Qurax Pharma for illegally producing a copy of the trademarked pharmaceutical product “Kamraj Capsule”. The FIR was registered at Sansarpur Terrace police station under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
The action was initiated following a written complaint by the legitimate manufacturer of “Kamraj Capsule,” a registered pharmaceutical company holding trademark rights. The complaint alleged that Qurax Pharma, located at Plot No. 191 and 191A, Industrial Area Phase-III, Sansarpur Terrace, Kangra district, was manufacturing a counterfeit version of the product.
On July 15, a joint team led by the SHO of Sansarpur Terrace police station, officers of the Drug Department, local panchayat representatives and police personnel conducted a thorough search of the premises of Qurax Pharma.
The search operation led to the seizure of critical materials used in the illegal production process, including 11 kg of blister/printing foil (two rolls), 36.725 kg of aluminum foil (three rolls), two cutters, two frame dyes, two sealing plates, five guide plates of various sizes, 6.205 kg of blank capsules, 214 filled capsules and six packed capsules. The authorities have initiated further investigation as per legal procedure.
The district police of Dehra have urged citizens to report any suspected counterfeit medicine activity to their nearest police station.
