Kohli Video, RCB Parade Led To Fatal Stampede: Karnataka Govt Blames Franchise In HC Report

The Karnataka government has submitted its official report to the High Court regarding the tragic stampede outside Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, 2025, which claimed 11 lives and left over 50 injured. In a significant revelation, the report squarely attributed the chaos to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise, stating that the team invited people for a celebratory parade without prior consultation or permission from the city police  "unilaterally".

'No Legal Justification' To Withhold Report

The findings have been made public after the direction of Karnataka HC rejecting the state's request to keep the report confidential. In its observation, the court noted there was "no legal justification" for withholding the report from stakeholders, as per a report on Times of India. Following the order, copies were shared with the RCB franchise, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Entertainment Networks—the event partner responsible for coordinating the parade.

According to the report, RCB’s official handle on X (@Rcbtweets) posted a video of star cricketer Virat Kohli at 8:55 AM on the day of the incident, urging fans to join the victory celebrations in the city. The video, released without formal security arrangements in place, is believed to have further fueled public excitement and led to an uncontrollable crowd surge outside the stadium, reported India Today.

The stampede occurred as thousands gathered near the stadium, hoping to catch a glimpse of the RCB team celebrating its first-ever IPL title win.
