Pune Gay Dating App Scam: Pune Man Blackmailed After Explicit Video Filmed By Grindr Date

A day after a man was tracked from Budhwar Peth and blackmailed, another shocking blackmailing incident has come to light in Pune’s Nanded City area, highlighting a surge in cheating cases linked to dating apps. A young man fell victim to a trap after meeting a stranger from the gay dating app 'Grindr', leading to blackmail and extortion.

According to Nanded City Police, the victim and the accused connected via 'Grindr' and engaged in conversations over several days. The accused managed to win the victim’s trust and invited him to meet in person. When they finally met, the accused lured the young man into his car. The incident escalated further as the accused took the victim to an undisclosed location, where he pressured him into filming a private video.

Threatening to send the explicit video to the victim’s family, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 10,000. The victim refused to pay, prompting the accused to snatch his mobile phone and transfer money using UPI.

Complaint registered at Nanded City Police Station

Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint at Nanded City Police Station. Acting swiftly, police arrested Robin alias Shubham Kamble in connection with the case. Meanwhile, another accused, Omkar Mandlik, managed to escape and is currently at large. Authorities have seized the vehicle used during the crime as part of their investigation.

This incident has sparked widespread concern regarding safety and the rising trend of online scams and blackmail through dating platforms in Pune. Police have warned users to exercise caution while engaging with strangers online and continue their efforts to curb such criminal activities.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the missing accused or similar incidents to come forward and assist in ongoing investigations.
