Cong promoted dynastic rule, misleading people on Statehood now: Chugh

JAMMU, July 17: Lambasting Congress for misleading people of J&K on Statehood issue, BJP national general secretary and Incharge J&K and Ladakh UTs, Tarun Chugh today said Modi Government is committed to restoration of Statehood to J&K at an appropriate time.
Talking to a news channel Chugh questioned Congress party’s sudden concern over Statehood issue and alleged it reflects the vested political interests of the party which during its rule has thrown all democratic norms to winds and promoted dynastic rule and corruption for decades together.

He said, “Congress is once again trying to cook its political bread over a border State, after decades of keeping J&K trapped in boycott politics, dynastic rule, and separatist appeasement.”
Chugh asserted that “only Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered true justice, development, and faith to the people of J&K and Ladakh. From Panchayat to Lok Sabha, democratic processes have been fully restored in J&K for the first time under Modi Government.”
The mess created by the party in the erstwhile State has been the root cause of turmoil that put the J&K in the darkest period. “The elections were rigged and manipulated during Congress rule’’, he added.
“Those who did not respect the democratic norms and overthrew the elected Governments in various states can’t give sermons on democratic norms and Constitution,’’ he said. “What Congress did during black days of emergency is not hidden from the people of this country as all top leaders including Jai Prakash Narayan were jailed for raising their voice against oppressive and suppressive policies of Congress at that time’’, he added.
Referring to the Congress letter to the Prime Minister, Chugh said it was nothing but “a shallow stunt.” He added, “The same leaders who opposed the abrogation of Article 370 are now pretending to care about Statehood. PM Modi’s word is not mere assurance, it is a resolute promise. At the appropriate time, full Statehood will be restored,” Chugh added.
He also slammed the Congress-NC-PDP alliance, saying, “The same parties that turned J&K into a laboratory of corruption and separatism are now lecturing us on the Constitution. The people of India are watching and they remember everything.”
On the encounter of Jaish commander Haider, Chugh said, “This is a decisive victory for our security forces. Haider was not just a terrorist, he was a ruthless killer and a top commander of Jaish. Neutralizing him proves the Modi Government’s unwavering zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.”
He said, “Pakistan-sponsored terror is being rooted out, and every terrorist will be brought to justice. This operation sends a clear message, India doesn’t show white flags, it strikes hard. This is New India, it doesn’t stay silent.”
