35K trees planted at DMCH under ‘Save the Planet’ initiative
Under the banner of “Save the Planet” initiative, an event was organised at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday. The event saw enthusiastic participation from student clubs, including the Dance Club and Green Initiative Club. Faculty members, senior residents, MBBS students, nursing staff and paramedic students were also present on the occasion.
The chief guest for the occasion was Sachit Jain, Vice-Chairman and Director of Vardhaman Special Steels Ltd.
In his message, Principal Dr GS Wander congratulated all club members and teams for their efforts in tree plantation and encouraged the audience to actively participate in the noble initiative. The drive was launched in June, coinciding with World Environment Day. As many as 35,000 trees have been planted under the initiative, so far. He also highlighted the collaboration of Vardhaman Steel and DMCH in sponsoring the Miyawaki forest project at the Malakpur campus.
Sachit Jain commended the DMCH team for their commitment towards environmental conservation. He emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering a greener and healthier community. He also extended his warm congratulations to everyone involved, appreciating their dedication to making the tree plantation drive a meaningful success that contributes positively to the environment and society at large.
Green Initiative Club conducted a best-out-of-waste competition which was a huge success. The event featured that gave out the message of saving the planet. It was followed by a beautiful dance performance by the Dance Club. Student representatives highlighted the various activities undertaken by their teams in support of environmental conservation.
Environmental organisation Eco Sikh also become a part of the initiative. As part of the ceremony, three outstanding warriors of the initiative were awarded cash prizes and appreciation certificates for their exceptional contribution. The event was attendant by more than 500 participants.
