Man hangs self to death at house
A man allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his house in West Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area. He recorded the act accusing his wife of having an extramarital affair and also alleged that he was burdened with heavy debt.
In a video that went viral on social media, the man claimed that, “I am Vikas. My wife is Pooja, and we have a four-year-old child. She left me and is living away due to some disagreements between us. I ruined my own life. It’s been five years since we got married. Life was going well and everything was fine. All of a sudden, things started falling apart.”
In the video, he alleged that a man, Saqib, was having an affair with his wife. “There’s a guy named Saqib, whom I once welcomed into my home with trust. Every time, she lies to me, saying she’s going out on a Rapido. Later I find out she’s actually going with him. I don’t want to live anymore,” he further mentioned.
He urged the government to give custody of his four-year-old son to his parents. He also admitted that he was struggling with debt and mental stress due to his recent circumstances.
After the incident came to light, the police launched an investigation into the incident. “We are currently examining the contents of the video recorded by Vikas. His body has been sent for postmortem examination,” an official said.
The case has striking similarity with Atul Subhash case in Bengaluru wherein the 34-year-old AI professional died by suicide on December 9, 2024.
Atul also left behind a note and recorded a video accusing his wife, her family and a judge of harassment, extortion and misuse of legal provisions. In the video, he also demanded that after his death, the custody of his son be given to his parents, instead of his wife Nikita.
