J&K Bank organises workshop for FPOs to boost financial awareness

SRINAGAR, July 17: The J&K Bank today organised a capacity building and orientation workshop for Farmers Producers Organisations (FPOs) under the Umeed Project in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM).
As per a statement, the workshop was held at the Bank’s corporate office in Srinagar and was chaired by Deputy General Manager (Credit) Rakesh Magotra, in the presence of DGM Suhail Lone and Project Manager (JKRLM), Zubair Hassan.
Senior officers from J&K Bank, officials from JKRLM, and representatives from various FPOs of Kashmir region participated in the event, it said.
Mission Director JKRLM, Shubra Sharma, also addressed the participants virtually, the statement said.
In her address, Shubra Sharma said the Government is keen to see FPOs grow with better access to affordable credit and praised J&K Bank for its proactive approach.
She urged farmers to use Government schemes and modern techniques to boost their incomes.
DGM Rakesh Magotra highlighted the importance of FPOs in strengthening agriculture and said the bank is committed to making finance accessible and affordable for them.
He informed that this was the third such workshop organised by the bank and a similar programme will soon be held in Jammu division.
The event also saw discussions on various schemes like HADP, PMFME, National Livestock Mission, and a special loan product launched by J&K Bank for FPOs.
DGM Suhail Lone assured full banking support to farmer groups attending the workshop.
He said similar workshops would be held in future as well to help the farmer groups understand the schemes, products, and facilities that can strengthen their operations and growth.
Participants appreciated the workshop, terming it a useful initiative for improving credit awareness and promoting agricultural growth.
