'Today's Heroes Have Killed Music': Kunal Kohli Celebrates Saiyaara Buzz, Calls Its Release 'Legendary Day In Indian Cinema'
Bollywood actor-filmmaker Kunal Kohli celebrated the buzz that has been generated by Mohit Suri's film, Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Calling its release a "legendary day in Indian cinema", Kohli shed light on how music plays an important role in Bollywood movies, and stated that today's heroes have "killed music".
As Saiyaara is expected to register one of the biggest opening day collections for a film starring newcomers, Kohli took to his X handle and wrote, "All have had HIT music. Today’s heroes have killed music by wanting to reduce the role of heroines and thinking that item songs are hit songs. Tmrw is a legendary day in Indian cinema (sic)."
He went on to say, "The change has begun. Good films. Good music are back. Albums. Complete albums. Filmmakers not heroes and their managers and entourages have to take calls about cinema and its music. Change is on the cards. Thank you audiences (sic)."
Saiyaara expected box office collection
Saiyaara is heading for a massive start at the box office as it releases in theatres on Friday. The buzz that the film has generated even before its release, especially among the GenZ, is unprecedented. As per reports, the film has already earned Rs 9 crore in just advanced bookings for its first day, and the young crowd queued up outside theatres from morning itself.
In a rare instance, Saiyaara also became one of those few movies for which midnight shows were added in theatres even before its release to meet the demand.
About Saiyaara
Saiyaara marks the debut of Chunky Panday's nephew and Ananya Panday's cousin, Ahaan Panday, alongside Aneet Padda, who was earlier seen in the OTT show, Big Girls Don't Cry.
Director Mohit Suri, known for hits like Aashiqui 2 and Malang, shared earlier that he had conceptualised the script of Saiyaara as 'Aashiqui 3' in his head, but it could not pan out for several reasons.
He also shared that while he had the story ready with him for many years, he could not find the perfect face to play the lead role, until he met Ahaan.
