UIDAI is preparing to make Aadhaar based KYC verification easier. New rules will be implemented soon. Offline KYC process will become even easier. Let’s know what will change?
Aadhaar KYC System: Aadhaar is one of the essential documents. Even though it does not prove citizenship, many government works cannot be completed without it. From PAN to bank account, everything is linked to it. Now even voter ID card will have to be linked to it. Recently, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken a big decision regarding Aadhaar card. Changes have been made in the rules. This includes new rules for closing Aadhaar of dead people and updating Aadhaar for children. Now there is going to be a change in the KYC verification process.
Aadhaar based verification is required for opening bank savings account, loan and other financial works. According to media reports, a major amendment is also going to be made in this process. All users should be aware of this. So that they do not face any kind of problem in future. When the new system is implemented, users will not need to provide Aadhaar number, OTP or biometric for Aadhaar KYC process.
What are the current rules? (Aadhaar Card Rules)
Currently UIDAI offers three options for KYC. These include electronic KYC, biometric and offline KYC. Electronic KYC process requires sharing of Aadhaar number. Most banks use this process. Biometric KYC is in-person verification. Whereas for offline KYC, it provides the facility of XML method.
What will change?
Now options like QR and PDF will be available in place of XML. With this, documents can be shared easily. This step is being taken to promote offline Aadhaar based verification. For which biometric verification and OTP will not be required, the entire process will be done as per the wish of the users.
According to the data released in June, UIDAI and MeitY had blocked many startup websites, they were accused of misusing Aadhaar details. Such irregularities were seen in many sectors. This change is going to be made to make offline KYC simple and secure.
It is necessary to close Aadhaar after death
According to recent data, more than 1.17 crore Aadhaar have been closed across the country. This step has been taken to prevent misuse of ID proof of deceased persons. It is mandatory to close the Aadhaar card after the death of any person. So that they are not misused. Recently, a special service has been started on the UID “My Aadhaar” portal. Its name is “Information of death of family member”. Through this, the user’s family can close the Aadhaar by giving information about the deceased. Apart from this, UIDAI is also checking the Aadhaar numbers of people above 100 years of age. So that it can be confirmed whether the person is alive or not.
