IND vs ENG: Four Indian Players Still Waiting For Their Debut
The Indian cricket team is currently touring England for a high-stakes five-match Test series. So far, India has played three matches and suffered defeat in two of them.
With the team under pressure to bounce back in the remaining games, questions are being raised not only about team selection but also about the opportunities being denied to some of the squad members.
Among the players waiting in the wings are Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dhruv Jurel, and Sarfaraz Khan, all of whom are part of India's Test setup but are yet to make it into the playing eleven.
While Sarfaraz Khan was not selected for the England tour altogether, the exclusion of the other two mentioned players from the playing XI despite being in the squad is beginning to raise eyebrows.
Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran, a consistent performer in domestic cricket, has been part of the Indian Test squad multiple times over the years.
However, the Bengal opener is still waiting for his long-overdue debut. Known for his temperament and technique, Easwaran’s omission has been surprising, especially given India's struggles with their top-order in English conditions.
Dhruv Jurel
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel, who made his mark in the IPL and domestic circuit, is also being overlooked, despite concerns over India’s middle-order stability.
Although Jurel was seen keeping wickets during the second Test after Rishabh Pant got injured, he only came in as an injury substitute and has not yet been included in the official playing XI.
As the India-England Test series moves toward its final stretch, there is increasing anticipation about whether these young players will be given a chance. With India needing fresh energy and solutions, the inclusion of new faces might just provide the spark the team needs.
Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana
Adding to the list are Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, both of whom were included in the squad for this series.
Arshdeep earned his maiden Test call-up but is yet to make his debut. Though there were expectations of him playing due to his left-arm angle and adaptability, he has remained unused. Harshit Rana was drafted in ahead of the first Test but hasn't broken into the XI yet either.
