60 schools in Bengaluru and Delhi get bomb threats via email; search, evacuations and drills continue

About 40 private schools across Bengaluru received bomb threats via email on Friday. Bomb disposal squads and dog units were dispatched to the institutions, and checks and evacuations were conducted.

No explosives have been found yet, and the situation is under control as emergency responders and police teams have mobilised to keep the students and staff safe.

The incident occurred just after about 20 schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Friday morning, triggering panic among students and their parents.

The Delhi Police have launched a search and operations, as threats are being sent for the fourth day in a row this week.

“Teams of multiple agencies are present, and thorough checking is ongoing. However, nothing suspicious has been found yet,” an official said, reported The Indian Express.

Some of the schools that received the award today are St Xavier's in Civil Lines, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, Abhinav Public School in Rohini and The Sovereign School in Rohini, among others.

On Tuesday, two educational institutions reported receiving mail. The day before that, three city schools received similar messages. Deputy Commissioner of police (North) Raja Banthia said that in the email sent to St. Stephens College, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and two packets of RDX were planted at multiple locations on campus, including the library and that they would detonate by 2 pm.

According to police who spoke to ANI, the email said, “I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices, trinitrotoluene, within school classrooms. The explosives are skillfully hidden in black plastic bags. I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive.”

Former Delhi chief minister Atishi made a post on X that said, "More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through.” "BJP controls all 4-engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking!" she added.

On Thursday, multiple security agencies also carried out mock drills at 10 locations to check readiness for any emergency.
