Thane Crime: Vartak Nagar Police Arrests 32-Year-Old Man For Molesting Five Minor Girls
Thane: The Vartaknagar Police have arrested a 32-year-old man, Shankar Kesarsingh Soni, in connection with the molestation of five minor girls in Thane. The incident occurred a few days ago when the victim, a minor girl who later filed the complaint, along with four other minor girls, was passing through a local area. Soni allegedly approached them and molested all five.
Following the complaint, a case was promptly registered at the Vartaknagar Police Station. Considering the seriousness and sensitivity of the crime, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone 5 formed five dedicated investigation teams, according to a report by Loksatta. These teams included personnel from Vartaknagar, Kapurbawdi, Wagle Estate, Chitalsar, and Srinagar police stations.
The search for the accused began immediately. Investigators relied on technical analysis and confidential intelligence to locate him. During interrogation, Shankar Kesarsingh Soni confessed to the offence. After confirming the details, the police arrested the accused, and it was also revealed that the case had been registered earlier at the Kalwa police station.
About Incident
On Monday morning, at around 7:15 am, an incident of molestation of a student of a Thane Municipal Corporation school came to light. While the victim was going to school, an unknown person came forward and behaved obscenely with her. He also chased her for some time, but she managed to escape and reach the school.
Upon reaching the school, she immediately told her class teacher everything. After which, the parents were informed. Later, the girl and her mother went to the Vartaknagar police station and filed a complaint against the unknown person.
The police have registered a case under Section 74 of the IPC and Sections 8 and 12 of the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse Act. During the investigation, the police took the victim to the spot and visited the school. Then four more girls came forward and said that they had been misbehaved similarly. It was revealed that all those incidents also happened on the same morning.
Investigating Officer Roshan Jadhav said, “We have formed two teams under the direction of senior officers. One team is reviewing CCTV footage from the area, while the other is working with local informants and using technical intelligence. We are confident the accused will be apprehended soon.”
