What's next in James Gunn's DC Universe expansion? Lobo joins Supergirl & more In 'Gods and Monsters'

Some had opined that this character wasn't put to good use in DC, despite possessing some interesting qualities and abilities. Marvel's Stan Lee once said the same thing, adding that despite being his favourite character, DC didn't know what to do with Lobo, that he would've done better in Marvel. Those of the opposite view, who prefer Lobo as it is, understood the true intention behind the character.
Keith Giffen, one of the co-writers who created Lobo with Roger Slifer, said once that he had no idea why Lobo became popular. "I came up with him as an indictment of the Punisher, Wolverine hero prototype, and somehow he caught on as the high-violence poster boy." So it's only natural that Lobo would be a right fit for the new DC movie universe spearheaded by James Gunn, which aims to go in a different direction, unlike previous DC movies did.
A couple of days back, James Gunn, who directed the new Superman reboot, announced that the next project in the DCU will be Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock, who made an appearance in the David Corenswet-fronted movie as Kara Zol-El, Clark Kent's cousin, whose dog Krypto was briefly under his care when she was away. There is a mention of her "visiting planets with red suns", given that it's difficult for them to get drunk on a planet with a yellow sun.
Interestingly, Jason Momoa, who played DC's Aquaman, will be introduced as Lobo in this movie, directed by Craig Gillespie, who is known for the critically acclaimed I, Tonya, starring Margot Robbie, and Cruella, with Emma Stone. His work until now has proven that he is the right candidate for taking on women-centric films with a singular energy.
Lobo's introduction in Supergirl is probably for good reason. Remember when Tom King, author of the comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, said he originally meant to include Lobo in the storyline, but his editors were against the idea?
Momoa confirmed his involvement when Alcock shared the Supergirl poster by posting the comment, "Look out, bastich," a reference to Lobo's frequent use of the word, a combination of 'bastard' and 'bitch', in the comics, which follows a revenge-driven storyline involving Kara and a young girl whom she meets.
Momoa's version of Lobo will be the second live-action interpretation of the character after that of Emmett J. Scanlan in the Krypton TV series.
Aside from Supergirl and Lobo, the other characters set to arrive next in DCU's Gods and Monsters phase are Clayface, in addition to a Lanterns miniseries, for HBO. Lanterns, which is a detective story said to be inspired by True Detective and Slow Horses, will star Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as the Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Chris Mundy, who was one of the key people involved in True Detective and Ozark, is the showrunner.
