3,000-year-old trees never before seen by humans discovered in Tanzania

In Tanzania's Udzungwa Mountains, scientists have identified Tessmannia princeps, a newly discovered tree species potentially 3,000 years old. This rainforest giant, hidden in remote valleys, is among the oldest and tallest tropical trees. With only about 100 mature trees found, conservation efforts are underway to protect this rare and ecologically significant species from threats like encroaching farmland and fire.
