New York; Recent conflicts between countries have highlighted the importance of high-tech fighter jets that are capable of striking at lightning-fast speed and can lift heavy payloads. Considering this, the United States is planning to strengthen its Air Force by inducting new fighter jets. The US Air Force has recently signed an agreement with aircraft manufacturer Boeing to build the sixth-generation fighter jet, the F-47. The aim is to replace the old F-22 stealth fighter jet with a much more advanced F-47 aircraft.
What Is The Major Deal Between US Air Force And Boeing?
It is the biggest deal between the American Air Force and Boeing in over a decade. However, the total cost of the agreement has not been disclosed publicly. Earlier, the company that developed stealth fighter jets for the US Air Force was Lockheed Martin, which had developed jets like the F-22 and F-35.
What Are The Features Of F-47 Fighter Jet?
The F-47 fighter will be loaded with new technologies, and it will be Boeing’s first clean-sheet design fighter jet. The design of the jet will not be similar to any existing model and has been prepared keeping in mind future wars. The fighter jet includes an improved version of the MQ-28 Ghost Bat drone and B-21 Raider stealth technology.
It is expected that the F-47 will be able to fly faster than Mach 2 with an operational range of over 1000 nautical miles. The payload capacity of the F-47 is also considered better than the current fighter jets. This is the reason why it is being called the deadliest fighter jet ever.
Secret Testing
According to US officials, secret testing of this fighter jet is underway for the past few months. Former US President Donald Trump said that this aircraft has started test flights, and if it passes all the criteria, it will be included in the US Air Force fleet by 2030.
