JAMMU, July 19: One person, who was allegedly involved in assaulting a youth in Bathindi area in February this year, has been booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
Mohammad Tahir alias Tahir Pal of Village Achralla, tehsil Mahore, district Reasi at present near Lal Madrassa, Bathindi, who has been facing multiple FIRs, has been booked under PSA and shifted to District Jail Kathua, a police official said.
He said despite several FIRs and pending cases against him in the courts, Tahir Pal didn’t mend his ways and continued to engage in unlawful activities, thus posing a threat to the public peace.
“As routine legal measures failed to deter Pal, District Magistrate Jammu invoked PSA against him to prevent any further criminal acts,” he said.
The warrant got executed today by a team of Police Station Trikuta Nagar with the arrest of the accused and further lodging him in District Jail Kathua, added the police official.
Pertinently, Pal, along with his associates in February this year attacked two persons at Mecca Masjid Chowk in Bathindi area with sharp weapons, resulting in serious injuries to one of them. The incident created panic in the area and locals demanded stern action against the accused persons, who were gradually arrested and put behind the bars.
