Will meet Guv over worsening law & order: Dushyant
Amid “rising crime” in the state, former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala has announced that the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) would soon meet the Governor to demand urgent intervention in the state’s deteriorating law and order situation.
He alleged that Chief Minister Nayab Saini had completely failed in his role as Home Minister and demanded that either the Governor should take direct control of the law and order situation in Haryana or take concrete steps after getting suggestions from the Centre to ensure public safety.
“Haryana has witnessed 11 major criminal incidents in just the past 10 days, exposing the collapse of law enforcement across the state. Despite the Chief Minister’s warnings, criminals are fearlessly carrying out crime. The police have no control,” Dushyant asserted while speaking to the media at the party office here on Sunday.
In reply to a question, the former Deputy CM referred to the deaths of 12 people in Ambala and Yamunanagar due to spurious liquor. “The collusion between the police and criminals became clear when a jail officer was involved, facilitating gangster calls from inside the prison. Though this officer was called in for questioning at a police station, no action has been taken against him,” he claimed.
Dushyant said experienced officers in the police were not being given the opportunity. Hence, people do not feel safe—even under police presence.
Turning to farmers’ issues, he said the BJP government’s poor planning had led to severe shortages of fertilisers. “First, it was urea during the wheat season…and now, DAP is unavailable. Farmers are struggling across the state,” he claimed.
He further alleged that the government only uses poor citizens for electoral gains, citing the cancellation of 6.5 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards as proof of its insensitivity.
Earlier, Dushyant held a meeting of office-bearers of various cells of the party and discussed the strategies to strengthen the party organisation. JJP state president Digvijay Chautala was also present on the occasion.
