RERA bars builder from booking flats

The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), Punjab, has stopped Motiaz, a Chandigarh-based builder, from marketing, booking, or allotting flats under its project “The Royale Sector 39 Extension” in Mohali.

RERA Chairman Rakesh Kumar Goyal said in an interim order that the developer had publicised the project without registering with the authority and had also failed to appear before it despite multiple notices. This was in violation of Section 3 of the RERA Act.

Taking a serious note of the alleged violations, the authority has put a bar on the builder from promotion, booking or sale of flats in the project until further orders. The interim stay will remain in place pending a detailed hearing.
