Elderly woman robbed of Rs 70K at knifepoint
An elderly woman was robbed of around Rs 70,000 at knifepoint from a warehouse in the Bhajanpura area of Northeast Delhi on Saturday evening.
As per the police, the victim, Manju Devi, was sitting in her son’s plastic goods warehouse. When her son went to washroom, two robbers came on a bike and fled after looting money by showing her a knife.
“They put a knife on my neck and asked me to take out the money, but I did not give it. For a long time, they kept telling me that they would stab me. I said kill me but I will not give the money. After this, they themselves took out money from my cashbox and fled. Both of them had covered their faces with a cloth,” she said.
Manish, son of the woman, said on Saturday evening, he had gone to freshen up for a while. At that time, his mother was sitting in their godown.
“During this time, two boys came who had a knife and a pistol in their hand and looted about Rs 70,000. One customer and one of our relatives were present in the warehouse at the time of the incident.
“We think that a servant working in the godown gave information about at what time the money is kept in the shop and where it is kept,” he said.
The police said a probe had been launched and they were trying to identify the robbers with the help of CCTV cameras. Based on the family’s allegations, the servant is being interrogated.
