Odisha: Class-VIII girl found pregnant

Baripada/Bangiriposhi: A girl studying in Class VIII was found two months pregnant at the hostel of a state-run residential school under Bangiriposhi police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, police said Sunday.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the area as the news spread after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint at Bangiriposhi police station. Police registered a case (204/25) and launched an investigation.
The residential school, where the girl studies, is run by the state Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development (SSD) department.
The matter came to light after the girl fell sick in her hostel. On being informed, the headmistress admitted her to the Bangiriposhi Community Health Centre for treatment.
Doctors found her two months pregnant during a check-up and informed the school authorities. Her teachers questioned her about her pregnancy and informed her mother.
When questioned, she informed that she fell in love with a minor boy and entered into a physical relationship with him when she had been to her village on summer holidays.
