The monsoon session of Parliament begins today, and the INDIA bloc is gearing up for discussions on Operation Sindoor, electoral roll revision in Bihar, and US President Donald Trump's claims of stopping the India-Pakistan conflict.
While the Centre has signalled it is ready to discuss Operation Sindoor in Parliament, it has not commented on whether discussions will be held on other issues raised by the Opposition. The Centre convened an all-party meeting on Sunday and held discussions on issues to be discussed during the upcoming session.
The Congress has demanded discussions on Operation Sindoor, US President Donald Trump's claims of "stopping" the India-Pakistan conflict, intensive electoral roll revision in poll-bound Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir's statehood and the Manipur issue. The Congress has been demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi should visit Manipur.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who attended the all-party meeting on behalf of the party, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make a statement in parliament on US President Donald Trump's claims and the Pahalgam terror attack. "It's incumbent on PM Modi to give a statement in Parliament on the key issues raised by the Congress at the all-party meeting," Gogoi said.
After the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government is ready to discuss Operation Sindoor in Parliament. "There are several issues on which the parties have opined that they should be discussed in the Parliament. We are ready for discussions with an open heart. We work as per rules and tradition and hold these in great value. So, we will discuss every issue, but as per rules and tradition," Rijiju said.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar urged all parties to engage in meaningful discussions.
