Anmol Gagan Maan’s resignation shows rift in AAP, say BJP leaders

“Even AAP’s own leaders have lost faith in the party — what more evidence does one need of its failure,” said Sucha Ram Ladhar, president, BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha Punjab, BJP national leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal and former Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna, while reacting to the resignation of former minister Anmol Gagan Maan from the Punjab Legislative Assembly.

In different press releases issued in Phagwara on Sunday, they called the resignation a “telling indictment” of the Aam Aadmi Party’s governance in Punjab and said it marked a breaking point within the party’s own ranks. “This isn’t just a personal decision, it’s a reflection of the mounting frustration inside AAP and growing public anger outside it,” he said.

They did not mince words, describing the current government as “directionless, chaotic and obsessed with publicity.” They slammed AAP’s track record, pointing to a series of controversies that have rocked the party since it came to power. “Rajya Sabha MPs resign to become MLAs. Ministers get arrested based on the Chief Minister’s own vigilance reports — and later receive clean chits from the same government. MLAs are beaten, leaders are silenced, and promises are forgotten. This isn’t governance — it’s a circus,” they remarked.

Highlighting the ground reality in Punjab, BJP leaders claimed that every section of society — from farmers and labourers to unemployed youth, traders and SC communities — has been let down. “Punjab is drowning in debt, crime is on the rise, administrative machinery is paralysed, and the hopes of people have been shattered,” they said.
