Breaking: From Land Disputes to Food Fights, India Sees a Surge in Street-Level Unrest | ABP NEWS
Recent incidents across India paint a disturbing picture of growing public unrest, vigilantism, and law and order concerns. In Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district, chaos erupted during a Samadhan Diwas program when a village representative carrying complaint documents was beaten by women over a land dispute. Shockingly, no official intervened despite the incident occurring outside the administrative office. In Lucknow, a minor argument during a public program turned violent as attendees began assaulting one another with chairs, despite many being unaware of the actual reason behind the fight. A similar incident in Haryana’s Yamunanagar escalated from a minor spat on a cricket pitch to full-blown communal violence involving stone-pelting and injuries. Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, a video of Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate playing rummy on his phone during a council session sparked political uproar, leading to protests and clashes in Latur. In Kanpur, residents protesting power cuts were allegedly threatened by a police inspector. Another controversy arose in Lucknow when a Brahmin family accused a Chinese restaurant of delivering chicken instead of paneer, prompting complaints and public outcry. To add to the tension, a businessman in Bihar's Chhapra was shot dead by unidentified assailants. As unrest spreads, these incidents raise pressing concerns about governance and public safety.
