Job Cut: Big announcement..! This company again laid off employees, made the announcement itself

Job Cut: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also a big reason for layoffs. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently said that with the advent of AI, fewer people are now needed for some jobs. After this, the company has fired hundreds of employees from Amazon Web Services.

Job Cut: Amazon is once again in the news for laying off employees. This time Amazon’s cloud unit Amazon Web Services (AWS) has shown the way out to hundreds of employees. It is believed that this layoff is just the beginning and it may accelerate further by the end of the year. Social media influencer and tech analyst Amanda Goodall claims that about 10% of the total number of employees in AWS and 25% of principal-level (L7) jobs may be affected by this layoff. Amazon is taking this step with the aim of reducing costs, simplifying organizational structure and improving performance. For this, the company is implementing measures like Performance Improvement Plan and Reduction in Force.

An Amazon spokesperson said on the layoff, “We have taken the difficult decision to eliminate some roles in some AWS teams. This step will help us to invest, recruit and optimally utilize resources so that we can deliver innovation to our customers.” According to Amanda Goodall, employees of many units including training and certification within AWS have been hit by layoffs. This time, senior i.e. L7 level principal posts are also on target. These are the posts on which the highest salary and facilities are given. Now even these are not being saved.

AI is eating up jobs

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also a major reason for layoffs. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently said that “With the advent of AI, fewer people are now needed for some tasks, and new types of people will be needed for some new tasks.” The number of AI tools and virtual agents is increasing rapidly within the company, which are taking over many human-based tasks.

Devices, Books and Podcast Units also affected

Layoffs at Amazon were not limited to AWS. Employees have also been fired in the Devices and Services Division, Books Business, and Wondery Podcast Unit. However, the company has made it clear that AI is not completely replacing humans, but these changes are being made as part of a major organizational review.

Termination emails sent on July 17

According to a Reuters report, termination emails were sent to employees on Thursday, July 17, and their system access was deactivated immediately. Recently, Amazon reported that AWS’s quarterly revenue was $29.3 billion (about ₹2.49 lakh crores), which is 17% higher than last year.
