Mohali industrialists take up long-pending issues with DC

Representatives from different industries of Mohali, Dera Bassi and Channalon in Kurali met district administration officials today and discussed their issues pending for a long time.

Key issues raised by them included broken and waterlogged roads, choked sewers, irregular garbage collection and erratic power supply.

The Dera Bassi Industries Association sought completion of the Derabassi-Barwala road, pending storm sewer work, desilting of sewer lines in the Focal Point, landscaping and maintenance of the ESI Dispensary.

They emphasised the need for storm sewer systems on Focal Point roads that are at a higher level than industrial units. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said the tender for the Mubarikpur-Ramgarh road was being finalised and the work will commence soon. “The upgrade of the existing ESI dispensary to a full-fledged hospital is under consideration, with the MoU between ESI and the State Health Department currently pending approval by higher ESI authorities,” she added.

Officials also committed to taking up the issue of power line augmentation along Barwala Road and the feeder line with Powercom officials. Besides, coordinating with traffic police and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to resolve congestion on the service road affected by Bhankharpur bridge repair work. The industry representatives were also assured of expediting approval for the drawing of Udyog Sewa Kendra in Dera Bassi.

Channalon Focal Point representatives raised concerns related to laying of storm sewers and desilting of existing lines. They also sought efficient use of treated water from the STP, need for a dedicated bus stop for female workers and improved garbage collection in the area.

The Mohali Industry Association representatives called for development of parallel routes to the Airport Road to reduce traffic congestion, tree pruning to prevent around power lines, improved garbage collection and park maintenance and resolution of waterlogging issues.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the Mohali Industry Association that work was on for road decongestion. The widening of NIPER to Balongi stretch and Phase 1 to Phase 8 city road was under consideration, the DC added.

The Deputy Commissioner directed PSIEC representative Bikramjit Singh to ensure that all issues under the purview of PSIEC are addressed on priority.
