Two men allegedly involved in the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital in Patna were injured in an encounter with the police on Tuesday.
The miscreants have been identified as Balwant Kumar Singh and Ravi Ranjan Kumar Singh. They have been arrested and are currently being treated in a hospital.
Police have seized two pistols and one magazine from them.
The shooting took place during a joint operation by the Bihar Police’s Special Task Force and Bhojpur Police to trace the accused in the daylight murder of Mishra who was fatally shot by unidentified assailants on July 17.
Mishra, a resident of Buxar district, was a murder convict and out on parole on medical grounds.
Police have already arrested four accused, including prime suspect Tauseef alias Badshah, in connection with Mishra’s murder. They were arrested from Kolkata in a joint operation by the Bihar police and the Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF).
A local court in Patna on Monday ordered three-day police remand for Tauseef while sending his cousin Nishu Khan and their two associates Harsh and Bhim to judicial custody.
According to police, Tauseef was wanted in several criminal cases, and also booked in Arms Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Nishu was also wanted in cases related to the Arms Act.
Chanan Mishra had dozens of murder cases registered against him. Police believe that the rival gang has carried out the attack on him.
Meanwhile, Bihar government has suspended five policemen, who had been posted at Patna’s Shastri Nagar police station, for negligence in connection with Mishra’s murder.
