On the Nifty, top gainers included Eternal, HDFC Life, Titan Company, Hindalco Industries, and Bharat Electronics, while the major laggards were Shriram Finance, Jio Financial, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports, and Tata Motors.

The BSE Midcap index fell by 0.6 per cent, while the Smallcap index ended slightly lower.

The Realty index was down 1 per cent, the Auto index slipped 0.6 per cent, and the Pharma index shed 0.9 per cent.

Ashika Institutional Equities, noted, "Nifty today opened at 25,166, touched a high of 25,182, and then moved lower to make a low of 25,035. By midday, Nifty was trading around 25,083, showing marginal weakness and failing to sustain early gains. This movement reflects the caution in the market, with many investors opting to book profits amid ongoing quarterly result volatility. Sector-wise, strength was observed in the Consumption while Media, PSU Bank, Realty, Pharma, Automobiles, and Telecom showed relative weakness."
