Reservation roster matter to be taken up in Cabinet meeting
The government has not complied with the State Election Commission’s directions to issue reservation roaster for urban local bodies by July 22. In a letter to the State Election Commission today, the Department of Urban Development said that it would place the matter of reservation roster in the next Cabinet meeting scheduled for July 24 and requested that any further action regarding ULB elections be postponed till a decision is taken by the Cabinet.
The department further mentioned that the decision regarding postponement of reservation roster was arrived at the Cabinet meeting held on June 28; hence, any revocation or modification of this decision falls within the exclusive purview of the Cabinet.
Devesh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, wrote that the Department sincerely acknowledges the importance of the directions issued by the State Election Commission and the department remains committed to fulfilling the directions in letter and spirit and shall make every possible effort to comply with the directions as early as possible.
