Who Is Tanushree Dutta? The Aashiq Banaya Aapne actress, who failed to give any hit, disappeared from Bollywood and then…
Once the face of bold 2000s Bollywood cinema, Tanushree Dutta shot to fame with her sizzling debut in Aashiq Banaya Aapne alongside Emraan Hashmi. Born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, into a Bengali Hindu family, she pursued her schooling at D.B.M.S. English School and later graduated from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Her life took a glamorous turn when she won the Femina Miss India 2004 crown. That same year, she represented India at Miss Universe and ranked sixth runner-up, a feat that propelled her into the modelling and film world.
How did she enter Bollywood?
Tanushree made her Bollywood debut in 2005 with Aashiq Banaya Aapne. The movie became a major talking point for its music and bold scenes. Soon, she was seen in notable films like Bhagam Bhag (opposite Akshay Kumar) and Dhol (with Tusshar Kapoor), and later made an appearance in Tamil cinema with Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai in 2010.
Despite a promising start, her film career fizzled out. Her last known TV appearance was in SuperCops Vs Super Villains (2013), after which she relocated to the United States.
Is she married?
Tanushree has always been open about her strong opinions on relationships. Though rumours once linked her to filmmaker Aditya Datt, nothing was confirmed. Speaking about marriage in an old interview, she said,
“I have always known what I want in my family dynamics, in my friendships. I have clarity, so people like me remain single for a long time till there is something very deep or concrete.”
To this day, she remains unmarried.
Why is Tanushree in the news now?
Recently, Tanushree broke down in a teary Instagram video, alleging harassment at her home.
“I am being harassed in my own home. Mujhe mere hi ghar mein pareshaan kiya jaa raha hai,” she said in the emotional clip.
She added that police visited her after she called them, but advised her to file a proper complaint at the station.
“Mujhe itna pareshaan kiya gaya hai pichle 4 to 5 saalon mein,” she shared, her voice shaking.
Here’s what she is doing now
Tanushree currently lives a low-profile life, away from Bollywood. While fans often wonder if she’ll make a comeback, she continues to live life on her terms. Whether she chooses to return or remain out of the spotlight, her story — from glamour to struggle, continues to strike a chord with many.
