Demolition drive carried out in two illegal colonies in Yamunanagar

A team of the Town and Country Planning Department carried out a demolition drive in two unauthorised colonies in Yamunanagar district. These unauthorised colonies were being developed in revenue estates of Ratauli and Kansapur villages in six acres.

These colonies fell in the Urban area (Controlled area) of Jagadhri tehsil of the district.

“As per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, a demolition drive is being conducted in unauthorised colonies of Yamunanagar district,” said Rajesh Kumar, District Town Planner (DTP), Yamunanagar.

He said that notices were issued to the defaulters as per the Urban Area Act number-8 of 1975 as the defaulters did not follow the departmental orders.

He added that the land owners did not take the necessary permissions before setting up these illegal colonies, therefore, demolition was carried out in these illegal colonies.

He appealed to the people of the district not to invest their hard earned money in such unauthorised colonies and to contact the DTP office before buying a plot.

“Before carrying out any construction in the controlled area, one can apply on the portal of the Town and Country Planning Department to obtain permission for land use change and if required, the District Town Planner’s office can be contacted for more information on any working day,” said Rajesh Kumar. During the drive, the team demolished the kutcha roads, foundations, boundary walls, sheds and under construction houses in these illegal colonies.
