Some people will not allow obstacles to stop them; they will simply work harder, stay more focused, and continue moving towards their dreams. One such example is Ankita Dey. Hailing from West Bengal, Ankita has always been studious. She aspired to study at IIT. Although it was difficult, she never backed down.
She worked hard, got a full-time job while preparing for the rigorous GATE exam. She had no extravagant resources or coaching to start with. Surprisingly, she started learning to code on YouTube and reportedly studied on the train while on the way to work. Eventually, in 2020, she got accepted into IIT Kanpur after cracking the GATE exam with an AIR 312. Later, she received an offer from Microsoft, which is the dream job for most of us.
Despite facing several hurdles and challenges, Ankita Dey achieved her goal of studying at IIT. Moreover, she obtained an All India Rank (AIR) of 312 in GATE 2020. It was not easy for Ankita to maintain a full-time job and study for a highly competitive examination like GATE, but she never lost hope. At present, she works for Microsoft.
Ankita De hails from West Bengal. She has been academically inclined since her childhood. Her parents acknowledged her ability early on and made sure to provide her with every possible support to continue her studies. According to Prabhat Khabar report, Ankita scored 91% in her 10th and 92.8% in her 12th from Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School. She completed her B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from the Academy of Technology. However, her dream was to study at an IIT. After she finished her graduation degree, Ankita set her sights on an M.Tech from an IIT. This process started with studying for the GATE exam.
In 2020, she took admission at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where she pursued her Master of Technology, MTech, Computer Science and Engineering.
In GATE 2020 Exam, Ankita obtained the All India Rank (AIR) 312 in Computer Science (CS) paper. With AIR 312, she got admission in IIT Kanpur. At present, Ankita works at Microsoft as a Software Development Engineer (SDE). In an interview, Ankita shared that although she studied ECE during her B.Tech., she liked coding and therefore went ahead with CS in higher studies. The transition was not easy as she had to manage a private job as well as prepare for one of the toughest exams in the country.
