No communal angle in Nuh sweet shop case: DC

Following the intervention of the district administration, the case in connection with Lala Chandiram Sweets was resolved on Thursday. The Nuh police had earlier registered an FIR against 10 people for disturbing communal harmony and spreading false propaganda against the owner of Lala Chandiram Sweets on social media.

According to the police, tensions rose when the sweet shop owner refused to take payment from a customer through UPI. A case was registered at the Nuh city police station on the complaint of Girraj Prasad, the owner of Lala Chandiram Sweets.

“Some people are spreading false propaganda against my shop on social media over a business rivalry. On July 21, some people falsely accused on Facebook me shop of using cow urine and cow dung and hatched a conspiracy to boycott the shop and tried to create communal tension,” Prasad said in his complaint.

Following the FIR, the social activists and political leaders gathered and went to meet DC Vishram Kumar Meena, where SP Nuh Rajesh Kumar was also present. They said it was not an issue between the two communities. They also demanded the cancellation of the FIR. In the meeting, the sweets shop owner and customer expressed regret.

“The shop owner agreed to put a board for the mode of payment. The matter has been resolved,” said Ramjan of Mewat Vikas Sabha. “It was not related to a particular community but only between the owner and his customer,” said Nuh DC Vishram Kumar Meena.

On July 21, a video had gone viral on social media, wherein some men belonging to a particular community asked the sweet shop owner to take payment through UPI, to which the owner refused. Following this, people took the matter to social media and posted photographs and videos for the boycott of the shop. The shop owner then approached the police and filed a complaint, following which the police booked 10 people in the case.
