DGIT NWR calls for expansion of tax base in J&K

JAMMU, July 24: The Director General of Income Tax (North West Region), Vatsala Jha today visited the Income Tax Office here to celebrate the 166th Income Tax Day.
With jurisdiction over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, Jha delivered a powerful message emphasizing honesty, commitment, integrity and efficiency to the officers of the Income Tax Department.
Addressing the gathering, she urged Income Tax officers to uphold the core principles of taxpayer service and facilitation, with a special focus on the expansion of the tax base in Jammu & Kashmir. She highlighted the importance of building trust through transparent and fair implementation of tax laws.
The event also witnessed the presence of senior officers including the Principal Director of Income Tax (Investigation), Ludhiana, Dr Ashish Abrol and the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Central), Ludhiana, Md Tarique Kalim. Both senior officers encouraged the department personnel to administer the Income Tax Act with fairness and transparency.
Additional Director of Income Tax, Jammu Anand Swaroop and the Deputy Director of Income Tax, Jammu Investigation were also present on the occasion.
