Encroachments removed from vegetable market in Yamunanagar

A joint team of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) and Market Committee removed encroachments from the vegetable market in Yamunanagar.

On the instructions of Commissioner of the MCYJ, Akhil Pilani, the joint team led by Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Anil Nain and Market Committee secretary Mohit Beri removed the carts parked on the road in the vegetable market.

The team also got the accumulated garbage cleaned from the vegetable market. “The cart operators had not only parked their carts on the road in the vegetable market, but had also kept fruits and vegetables on the road, causing traffic jams,” said Anil Nain.

He warned the cart operators that if they parked their carts on the road of the vegetable market again, the carts would be confiscated and challans would be issued to them.

He said Beri had informed him that some street vendors had encroached on a major portion of the road by placing their goods and parking their carts. He further said the street vendors were dumping garbage in the open and they were not using dustbins to throw garbage. “On the instructions of the Commissioner Akhil Pilani, a joint team led by him and Beri removed the encroachments from the vegetable market,” said Anil Nain. He said their team reached the vegetable market late in the evening on Thursday and found that some street vendors had parked their carts covering half of the road and kept vegetables, fruits and other goods also on the road.

“Due to the encroachment, pedestrians and drivers passing through the road were facing a number of problems. Therefore, our team removed the encroachments,” said Nain. He said most of the street vendors did not have dustbins to throw garbage and they were throwing garbage in the open.“Our team cleaned the garbage with the help of a loader,” said Nain. He also warned the street vendors that if any street vendor was found without a dustbin and throwing garbage in the open, he would be challaned.

He added, if any fruit and vegetable vendor was found using banned polythene bags, he would also be challaned.
