YMUN-2025: Over 250 students debate global issues

Over 250 students from 12 leading schools across Himachal Pradesh converged at the Auckland House School for Boys for the two-day YMUN 2025 Shimla Chapter, themed “Where ideas meet action”. The event, recognised as the state’s largest Model United Nations (MUN) conference, offered a powerful platform for dialogue, diplomacy and youth leadership.

The conference commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Abhishek Verma, ADC Shimla. Principal Reuben T John of Auckland House School for Boys presided as Guest of Honour, delivering a keynote that highlighted the significance of purpose-driven intellect and critical thinking among youth.

YMUN 2025 simulated six committees—Lok Sabha, UNHRC, UNSC, UNCSW, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha and AIPPM—with an active International Press that included reporters, photographers and caricaturists. Delegates debated critical national and global issues, honing negotiation and leadership skills.

Apart from the host school, participants came from Sacred Heart, Convent of Jesus and Mary, St Luke’s, MRA DAV, Pinegrove, Bishop Cotton, Cambridge International, ATLAS, Roots Country, Chelsea, and Auckland House School for Girls.

In the Lok Sabha, Alina Kanta (Sacred Heart) was declared Best Parliamentarian, while Prabhyti Mehta and Yugantar Singh (MRA DAV) received High Commendation and Special Mention. Tanish Sharma (AHS Boys) was recognised for Best Op-Ed.

Angad Verma (Pinegrove) won Best Delegate in the UNSC, followed by Rajveer Katoch (Bishop Cotton) and Shivankit Kanwar (AHS Boys). In the UNCSW, Arika Dhanta was named Best Delegate and Mehwish Chauhan (AHS Girls) received High Commendation. Sanika (Cambridge International) and Sudiksha Gupta (St. Luke’s) won top honors in the UNHRC.
