Contractor served notice over leakage in ceiling of basketball court
Taking strict note of a leakage in the basketball court constructed at the Guru Nanak Stadium under the Smart City Mission, the Municipal Corporation (MC) has served a notice on the contractor, directing him to replace faulty ceiling sheets.
Further, MC Commissioner-cum-CEO of Ludhiana Smart City Limited (LSCL) Aaditya Dachalwal had also formed a committee for conducting inspection and submitting a report regarding the same. The committee comprises MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh as Chairman and Superintending Engineer Sham Lal Gupta and Executive Engineer Arvind Kumar as its members.
In the notice served on the contractor, it has been stated that during a recent inspection, leakage was observed in the ceiling of the basketball court due to faulty ceiling sheet. It also reflects poor workmanship and negligence on part of the contractor.
A penalty of Rs 10 lakh has already been imposed on the contractor for delay in completion of the project in the past. Now, the authorities have again directed the contractor to take corrective steps and replace the faulty ceiling sheets, otherwise an additional penalty would be imposed for missing deadlines and defective execution of the work.
The MC Commissioner said they had been continuously monitoring development works being taken up across the city and no laxity would be tolerated in terms of the quality of works.
