An intriguing moment occurred at the Citi Open in Washington D.C. as Women's Tennis star Maria Sakkari saved a bug after she saw it on the court, seemingly distracting her. After the commentator praised her for gently placing it away from the playing area, a ball-boy stomped the same bug as a video of the same surfaced on social media.

With Sakkari gently taking the bug out of the playing area, the commentator was heard saying on air, 'Good work there by Sakkari, taking care, very delicately done. After the ball boy squished the bug, the commentator let out a laugh and said, 'Oh dear me! The boy didn't get the memo.'

Maria Sakkari's run in Citi Open after defeat to Emma Raducanu in quarter-final

Meanwhile, the Greek's Tennis star's run in Citi Open came to an end after losing to England's Raducanu 6-7, 4-5. After the match, Raducanu had said, as quoted by Tennis Head:

"Yeah, today I think she actually played a really good match. I think her level has been really high in the first two rounds and also today. I think when you have such a good record against someone, I don’t know, you feel like every time in your head it’s like, hey, I have done well in the past, but I want to do well now against her."

Nevertheless, Raducanu was forced to retire from her doubles match due to injury in the Citi Open alongside Elena Rybakina as they faced Taylor Townsend and Zhang Shuai.
