In line with this announcement, the cloud PC service has been launched recently and can be used with JioHome service, which works on Jio’s AirFiber and Fiber. According to a TelecomTalk report, Jio on its website, in the JioHome section, stated that “JioHome offers you unlimited Wi-Fi and non-stop entertainment – over 800 TV channels, OTT apps, gaming, computer-on-TV, and more.” In this, computer-on-TV service means Jio’s next-generation AI-ready computer, JioPC. What is JioPC?
JioPC is a cloud-based virtual desktop service that lets you turn your TV into a personal computer using the Jio set-top box (STB). It is specifically designed for homes that do not have a computer, and targets students, remote learners, and users who want computing from an affordable setup. According to the website, this cloud platform is designed keeping in mind students, creators, families, and businesses.
“JioPC is a virtual desktop service designed for working, learning, and creating. Whether you’re browsing the web, using productivity apps, connecting to educational tools, or attending online classes, JioPC meets all your needs,” Jio said on its website.
How does JioPC service work?
To use JioPC service, the customer will need a JioFiber or AirFiber connection and a Jio set-top box. Go to the JioPC app from the set-top box’s apps menu on your TV. Connect the keyboard and mouse (via USB or Bluetooth) to the set-top box.

What to do to start the service
To start using JioPC, you will need a TV/screen, a set-top box (STB) with JioFiber or JioAirFiber connection, a keyboard and mouse, and an active JioPC subscription (JioPC plan). As an introductory offer, Jio is charging zero activation charges and offering unlimited usage. Before launching JioPC Virtual Desktop, you need to register to create a JioPC account.
JioPC configuration and features
The Jio Virtual PC has 4 vCPUs with 2.45 GHz clock speed, 8GB RAM and 100GB cloud storage. It runs on Ubuntu (Linux) operating system.
According to the company’s website, it offers features like AI-ready PC, always updated, monthly subscription, zero repair and maintenance cost, always safe, and faster browsing.
For productivity apps, JioPC comes pre-installed with LibreOffice, which offers a number of productivity applications including word processing, spreadsheet management, etc. It supports opening and editing Microsoft Office file formats including .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, etc. According to Jio, you can also use cloud-based versions of Microsoft Office apps like Office 365 through the browser.
Company claims – Users’ data will remain safe
Jio claims that the data is stored safely in the cloud. If the Jio set-top box gets damaged or replaced for any reason, even then your data remains safe. Currently, external devices like camera, printer etc. have been blocked, and these will also be enabled in the coming time.
Price of JioPC subscription plans
JioPC is available as a subscription service, which includes different plans. Currently, Reliance Jio is also providing a free trial of JioPC service. Users can avail 1 month JioPC subscription (priced at Rs 599) for free by connecting any wireless keyboard and mouse. Since it is a cloud-based service, customers will need an internet connection to use this service.
After the free trial ends, if you want to use it further, you will have to choose a plan. Below are some of the JioPC plans that customers can buy:
– 1 month validity with unlimited usage at Rs 599 per month + GST.
– 2 months validity with unlimited usage at Rs 999 per month + GST.
– 3 months + 1 month validity with unlimited usage at Rs 1,499 + GST under limited time offer.
– 6 months + 2 months validity with unlimited usage at Rs 2,499 + GST under limited time offer.
– 12 months + 3 months validity with unlimited usage at Rs 4,599 + GST under limited time offer.
All the above plans come with 8GB RAM and 100GB storage. Apart from this, Jio is offering Adobe Express Premium for free with all the plans.
