UP Delegation In Japan To Boost Green Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Investments

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is actively pursuing global collaborations, technology transfer, and investments in green hydrogen and renewable energy in Japan, marking a forward-looking step towards a cleaner, greener future.

A high-level delegation from Uttar Pradesh, including Shri Awanish Awasthi, Advisor, Shri Vijay Kiran Anand, CEO of Invest UP, and Shri Inderjit Singh, Director of the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency , has engaged in strategic discussions to position the state as a hub for clean energy innovation.

A key highlight of the visit was an in-depth interaction centered around the Toyota Mirai, a next-generation hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, symbolizing the zero-emission mobility Uttar Pradesh aims to promote. The delegation is exploring partnerships in green hydrogen manufacturing and establishing Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to drive innovation in sustainable energy and mobility. These efforts are crucial for building a robust ecosystem for green hydrogen and other clean energy solutions in Uttar Pradesh.

The delegation also toured the University of Yamanashi’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Nanomaterials Center, a leading institution in advanced fuel cell research. UPNEDA's Director expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation to enhance clean energy production, focusing on solar, small-scale hydroelectric, and biomass-based electricity.

The delegation is committed to securing technology transfers for domestic production of clean, affordable renewable energy, aligning with the state’s vision of leading the green energy transition and supporting India’s climate goals. Their visits to advanced facilities like the NESRAD Green Hydrogen Plant, Suntory Hakushu Distillery (showcasing Power-to-Gas technology), and the Hydrogen Research Center in Yamanashi provide valuable insights for adoption in Uttar Pradesh. The state is paving the way for a more sustainable and self-reliant future through its commitment to clean energy, innovation, and international collaboration.
