Volkswagen Ameo Flees After Ramming Into Auto On Delhi's Barapullah Flyover During Rainy Night; Shocking Video Surfaces
New Delhi: A hit-and-run incident was caught on camera late at night on the Barapullah flyover in Delhi, where a speeding Volkswagen Ameo crashed into an autorickshaw and fled the scene.
The disturbing incident, which unfolded during rainfall, was recorded by the dashcam of a car trailing the auto, which has now gone viral on social media, drawing criticism and concern.
The footage shows the auto switching lanes towards the right side of the multi-lane flyover when the Volkswagen, moving at a high speed, rammed into it. The impact caused the auto to overturn and slide several feet on the wet road surface, with sparks visibly flying. The driver of the car that filmed the video did not appear to stop either. The road was slick due to the rain, and visibility was low at the time of the crash.

Here's How Netizens Reacted:
The video drew mixed reactions from netizens. While some were appalled by the hit-and-run, others debated the question of fault, highlighting both the auto’s lane change and the car’s speed.
“Shocking and shameful... Strict action must be taken. Lives aren't speed bumps,” one user wrote. Another commented, “The car was clearly fast and auto also switched lanes, so both at fault.”
Some viewers pinned blame on the auto driver for a sharp lane shift, especially on a high-speed corridor like Barapullah. “Sharp turn from middle lane to the fast lane... real cause of this accident,” wrote one user.
But others defended the auto. “No fault of auto wallah. He was avoiding water and what was Ameo driver doing racing on rainy night?” another netizen argued.
Despite the split opinions, there was near-unanimous condemnation of the driver fleeing the scene. “Fleeing the scene: biggest offence here,” said a viewer, summing up the sentiment.
