Karnal MC counters to stay open on holiday for property tax rebate

With just one day left to avail the ongoing rebate on property tax for the financial year 2025–26, the Karnal Municipal Corporation (MC) will keep its cash counters open on Thursday, despite a gazetted holiday. The counters will function from 9 am to 4 pm, enabling residents to clear their dues and avail themselves of the 10 per cent rebate. MC Commissioner Dr Vaishali Sharma issued directions in this regard to facilitate the public.

Sharing details, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC) Abhe Singh said that taxpayers who deposit their property tax by July 31 would be eligible for a 10 per cent rebate. “Thousands of taxpayers have already availed the rebate,” he said, urging the public to make use of the opportunity by visiting counters 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Singh added that property tax collection had already crossed Rs 13 crore in the MC’s treasury. He appealed to defaulters to clear their dues promptly to avoid attachment proceedings and other legal action.

“Those unable to visit the office in person can conveniently pay their property tax online through the official portal: property.ulbharyana.gov.in,” he said.

The DMC also stated that more than 60,000 Property IDs within the municipal limits had already been self-certified. Dedicated staff members have been deployed for the task, and counters 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 at the MC are available for self-certification. Citizens can also self-certify their Property IDs at nearby Atal Seva Kendras or from the comfort of their homes.

To self-certify, citizens should visit the NDC portal on property.ulbharyana.gov.in, register (if not already done), log in with their registered mobile number, search for their Property ID, verify all details carefully and mark ‘Yes’ where correct. The final step involves submitting the information using a Family ID or Aadhaar number. “Once submitted, the Property ID will be self-certified and secured from unauthorised changes,” Singh said.

He urged all property owners to pay their tax and complete the self-certification process at the earliest.
