India to Pakistan, Trump announces new tariffs for 70 countries, know who’s hit the hardest?
US President Donald Trump has announced new tariffs of up to 41 per cent on goods imported from 70 countries, again citing emergency powers he says he is using to shrink the country’s trade deficits with many of its trade partners.
While August 1 was the tariff deadline, the new levies will come into effect from August 7.
Trump slapped steep tariffs ahead of a Friday trade deal deadline, including a 35% duty on many goods from Canada, 50% for Brazil, 25% for India, 20% for Taiwan and 39% for Switzerland.
